Caring Schools Community

Youth and Family Alternatives, Inc. Substance Abuse Prevention & Intervention Programs are part of Florida’s comprehensive system to reduce the impact of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders on youth and their families. The Caring Schools Community program is funded by the Department of Children & Families (DCF) through Central Florida Behavioral Health Network with the purpose to provide early intervention services to Pasco County children who are at risk of substance abuse.

The program is designed to create a caring school environment characterized by kind and supportive relationships and collaboration among students, staff, and parents. The CSC model is consistent with research-based
practices for increasing student achievement. By creating a caring school community, the program seeks to promote pro-social values, increase academic motivation and achievement, and prevent drug use, violence, and
delinquency.
